Title of the Piece: Mrs.Micromanager

NEW! OLD! SIGN! HOST!

Turns out, new boss is a micromanager. I go from one extreme to the next. I was trying so hard to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it's over.

-we now have hour long team meetings each week. that's not so bad, but she prints an agenda for ALL of us. Um, there's 5 of us, we don't all need one and it's pointless. How about we all make our own notes and just talk about what's going on, that's basically all we do, but since it's on the agenda we now go in order. BTW, we used to finish our team meetings in 30 minutes before.

-I used to combine 1/2 days off together. For example, if I take 1/2 off to see my ma and another 1/2 off for the dr, I would just list one full day off for one of the 1/2 days. Make sense? Good. She doesn't like that idea and thinks I should use dr appointments as sick time. I told her I'd prefer to use vacation b/c I usually use my sick days. She was shocked that I'd use all 5. I told her that sometimes I need mental health days. Not sure she liked that. I tried asking what happens then if I use all my sick time for dr appointments (let's not forget I have kidney stones and see the dr at least 3 times a year for that) and then use the rest being sick and oh no, then I go over on my sick time- could I use a vacation day then. She said I was getting too far ahead of myself. Either way, it's my fucking time off, let me use it as I see fit.

-we now have to come in at a certain time. Either 830-5 or 9-530. Either way, we all have to be at our desks and ready to work at 855. This is coming from the woman who gets in around 830 and leaves at 420 to catch her metra train. Just because you have kids doesn't mean your schedule can be different, especially if you're making up these other dumb rules for us. Not fair.

-one on one meetings with her each week where we get to bring a Word document for her and ourselves (so wasteful!) explaining what we're doing each week and where we need her help. Listen, lady, this is what the team meeting is for and if I need your help, I'll just email you!

-she's never worked in online advertising, she's only done print. She had no idea what the basic, core terms stood for, which ok fine, no biggie at first. But if you don't even know the basics, do not, I repeat do not push for us NOT to change ad servers when that decision is one that has been in the works for months and is something you do not understand at all. She thinks that because our sister company likes the ad server, that our ad trafficker must be doing something wrong. Hey, how about this-- maybe we're two completely different platforms and just because it works for them doesn't mean it works for us. This switch has been analyzed over and over and seeing as she has no idea what a frequency cap is, she should not be pushing for something she does not understand at all.

Thankyoumyventingisdone.... for now
